Seaford United Methodist Church
Our Sunday School is FREE for everyone! We have classes for children ages 3 to 18 and adults of all ages! The classes start at 9:30 on Sunday mornings before our Worship service and meet from September thru June. Parents are not required to stay for Sunday School or come to Worship service unless they choose to. Our Sunday School program is designed to help our children to grow in their faith and to teach them how to care for others and the world around them.
We use biblically based material and do whatever we can to create an atmosphere of love, acceptance and encouragement in learning and following God's word. Our Sunday School mission program is designed to teach our children how to care for and to reach out to others. This is an opportunity for children learn that their efforts can have a very positive, lasting and heartfelt effect on the less fortunate members of our community and world. The children will participate in an annual hands-on mission project and write letters of encouragement from time to time.
The Sunday prior to Christmas part of the service is devoted to our Christmas pageant with children of all ages participating. Click here for pictures! Several of the students in our Seaford Community Preschool take part in the pageant. Rehearsals take place on the Saturday prior to the actual service. Volunteers are welcome to help with the Christmas Pageant including costumes, decorations and rehearsal.
We are always looking for individuals willing to teach or substitute teach Sunday School. If you are interested in participating in any of these important ministries, contact Dominique Monaco-Vetter, the Director of Christian Education or Pastor Knutsen. Both can be reached through the church office at 516-785-8877.
We have nursery care available for infants through 2nd grade. Our nursery caregiver is a caring young woman from our congregation.
During the first part of the service we have a children's message, at which time all the children are invited to come to the front of the church for a brief children's message and prayer. After the children's message, they go to the nursery until the point in the service we have communion. At that time, the children are brought back into the sanctuary to be blessed at the alter rail by mature Christians. They then join their family for the remainder of the service.
